Women's Championship

A blistering attack in the final round by Charest results in her becoming the 1996 Canadian Woman Champion, $500 richer, IWM title and the right to represent Canada at the next level of FIDE competition for the Women's World Championship. Natalia Khoudgarian also met the requirements for an automatic IWM title.
